4. Solemn Procession

The morning's Fluvial Parade was a happy affair, but the afternoon Procession on the eve of the Feast of Santo Niño was solemn. The Santo Niño statue is carried through the streets of Cebu City for several hours, along a route filled with devotees waiting to catch a glimpse of the revered icon. Starting at the Basilica del Sto. Niño downtown, it winds up Jakosalem St., down General Maxilom Avenue and M.J. Cuenco, then back to the Basilica. The next morning's Cebu SunStar reported nearly a million participants (normal population of Cebu City is 700,000, but increases for Sinulog.)
